At the time Kaya was 8, Orochiko started to attack other villages to form her army. So, in the attack where she took Kenshin Hyuuga with her, Orochiko killed Hana. Kiba then took Kaya in and continued to take her as if she was his own daughter. Kaya never studied to be a ninja, since her dream was to be a vetirinary. She's calm, gentle and loves Kira as if she was a real sister.
