Yeah, that was the creepiest ATLA episode, EVER. Hamma could control other people by bending the water in their bodies. Katara, unwillingly, learned this herself but it was to save Aang and Sokka's life as Hamma pitted them against one another and they would have killed each other. SO Katara had no choice, but the bloodbending ability can only be done during the full moon.
