Inuyasha62's right: Winged Dragon of Ra. Ra is the Egyptian God of the sun. It was said that in Egypt, sunset was death (meaning why the dead were buried on the west side of the nile) and sunrise was rebirth.

Winged Dragon of Ra. Ra is the ... God of the sun. Can't remember... That's why in the Philippine dub, they specify Ra as Apollo, because both of them are gods of the sun.

It is said that ra would go underground into the underworld and fight the 12 dark beasts, the last being Zorc. He(Ra) would always come out the winner and would arise from the ground as a (beleive it or not)...a dung beetle...that is why the dung beelte is a symbol of honour in Eygpt... Cool
